Field Notes

Description:

I love these butterflies! Black background, white barring across upperside of all 4 wings and orange tips on the wings. This was a very bright individual with the white edging spots still on the hind wings.

Habitat:

Lightning Lake campground in Manning Park, BC. Westcoast temperate rainforest.

Notes:

Caterpillar food plant is primarily willow and poplars and chokecherry. There are lots of willows close by along the banks of Lightning Lake.
