Curl snake
Suta suta
-26.6981, 148.829
Field Notes
Description:
Curl Snake (aka Myall Snake) I spotted on the road (lucky I saw it!) while going for a drive just south of Roma last night. Wasn't totally sure what it was at the time so took it back for ID and a few shots before releasing.
Habitat:
Dry, open forest.
Notes:
Curl Snakes are considered "potentially dangerously venomous". He was very chilled though, can't imagine it striking anyone. They are known to curl up tightly into a spring-like coil protecting the head, in defense, hence the name.
