Field Notes

Description:

large tarantula, 10cm legtip to legtip, common in the pet trade, may live more than 20 years

Habitat:

temperate forest

Notes:

I was shocked to see this large tarantula on the trunk of a tree as I hiked Nahuelbuta national park. It was more something I'd expect to see in the Amazon, not in a temperate forest.
