Field Notes

Description:

Pink and yellow coloring; fuzzy yellow abdomen, pink legs, pink antennae, and pale yellow wings with faint pink details. The wings were slightly tattered along the edges.

Very small! About an inch long; about half an inch wide with its wings closed.

Habitat:

Sitting on the outside of the cabin below the porch light.

The cabin was surrounded by lots of maple, oak, and pine trees.

Notes:

Rosy maple moths are nocturnal, but I actually found this one during the day in a sleeping/dormant state.

This is my favorite moth so I was super excited to find one!
