Field Notes

Description:

Around 4cm long, black in colour with a red "tail" with a black end. Hairy legs and body. Kept flying around and hid whenever someone walked by.

Habitat:

Found in the beach, around a man made wooden path, further away from the sea.

Notes:

Was lucky to get so many pictures of this one. He was an energetic one. I'm unaware of any English nor Portuguese common names for this specie.
