Fig Sphinx Moth
Pachylia ficus
25.7076, -80.4043
Field Notes
Habitat:
Range from southern USA through west indies south to Uruguay. Caterpillar host plants members of fig family. Adults nectar on flowers. This one spotted in a suburban habitat.
Notes:
Big surprise this morning on my front porch window. This beautiful moth was most likely there seeking shelter from the rain as it has been raining heavily since last night. I felt very lucky, as it is a new species spotting for me. So glad to add it to my photo collection. It's been sitting there for a few hours.
