Field Notes

Description:

They are small flies that have grey and black striping with 2 big red eyes. The name comes from the red tip on the abdomen of the fly. These ones were mating. The larvae of this fly feed on rotting meat.

Habitat:

Semi-urban, Fort Worth, Texas.

Notes:

This species can cause many harmful diseases like Vector. This species can also cause myiasis, that forms when the maggot feeds on the human flesh.
