Description:
This is a very tall aquatic bird (about 80 cm), found in almost the entire continent from North to South America. They are found near streams, in the slow flows of large rivers, lakes and fresh water and swamps, where they can catch fish crayfish, newborn turtles and even snakes.
The snake is small about 40 cm, it is mostly found in very similar habitats that the bird, and is mostly nocturnal. They prefer shallow and slow-moving waters, especially where aquatic vegetation is abundant.
The observation was done very early in the morning.
Habitat:
Edges of river, swampy areas flooded open grasslands .
Lowland forests and coastal mangroves
Notes:
Seen in Reserva Pacuare, caribbean of Costa Rica
