Field Notes

Description:

A large noisy black cockatoo with yellow tail feathers and yellow cheeks.
A pair was found in tall forest and here is my best action shot.

Habitat:

Tall eucalypt forest.
Yarra Ranges National Park. Starling Gap.

Notes:

These are fairly common and will visit suburban yards to feed on certain trees bearing seed cones such as Hakea.

Its too cold for the red tailed black cockies down here. It seems like one or the other They are hard to capture in the tall forest. This one came close to screech at me and I was so happy to catch it in flight ;)
Great shots.. We only have the red tailed here..
