Description:
Most nudibranchs are carnivores, but their prey is usually sessile or slow-moving animals such as sponges or bryozoans. In contrast, Melibe is an active predator which traps fast-moving free-swimming animals such as small crustaceans, using its extendable oral hood.
Some species of Melibe Nudibranch can be nearly transparent with lined/patches of brown.
Habitat:
Benthic critter, tends to live on sandy and sea grasses area, burrow itself under the sand and comes out to feed at night.
Notes:
This is a Juvenile, around 5 cm in size. Some Melibe species can grow up to 30 cm in size or possibly bigger.
In view of its near transparent feature, it was very challenging to take proper picture of it with the sandy bottom, so I placed it on a black slate for this picture.
