Field Notes

Description:

Family: Sphingidae, Subfamily: Sphinginae. Large Sphinx Moths. Length: 50 mm. Wingspan: 101 mm. Gray FW has black dashes extending between veins in median area. Conspicuous white reniform spot is outlined black. Fray HW has a thick terminal band. Thorax is black. Hosts: Apple, sweet fern, blueberry.

Habitat:

Woods, fields, meadows. Came to light near blueberry bushes.
