Many thanks, Boris, for your expertise! Much appreciated you spend some time here on Project Noah. I am glad I was not too far away ;-)
Safe ID, insofar. Achenium is less convex, other genera also excluded. In Europe, there are at least six spp. with this red+black wings - to discriminate them, you need to study genitalia and other minute details. No photo ID on species level, never!
Hi bayucca, We'll wait for experts, and I have Rove beetle dozen similar
I think we need a real expert for these ones, I am definitely not, I just found 2 possible genus, there are may be others, the ones I found are, howeve, quite a good match, but 1 genus too much ;-)...
How sure you are about the species?
Staphylinidae, Rove Beetle. In my eyes either Achenium sp. or Lathrobium sp. I am not experienced enough to separate the 2 species. http://www.koleopterologie.de/gallery/FHL04/achenium-depressum-foto-benisch.html http://www.boldsystems.org/index.php/Taxbrowser_Taxonpage?taxid=528117 http://www.igoterra.com/artspec.asp?thingid=132749
