Description:

Not sure if this is birch sawfly caterpillars (Croseus septentrionalis)
or Dusty birch sawfly caterpillars(Croesus latitarsus)

They are an inch or so long and have an interesting defensive behaviour - they all splay out when disturbed

Habitat:

these were found on birch tree
