Thanks bugeric! Does this mean it will have to remain unidentified??!!
This could also be Larinioides sclopetarius (Gray Cross Spider). Both species occur in BC and are nearly identical in appearance.
Not 100% positive, however it looks like araneus nordmann, a common Pacific Northwest orb weaver...the cross garden spider is more common in gardens http://greennature.com/article45.html
