Description:

The bloom is cornflower-like, violet blue flowers with the pincushion center. The leaves are large lanceolate and arranged in a basal rosette.

Habitat:

Planted in a new landscape.

Notes:

This plant is native to wetlands, bottomlands, wet pinewoods, savannas and ditches mostly along the coastal plain from North Carolina to Florida to Louisiana. Genus name honors English physician/botanist Jonathan Stokes (1755-1831).
