Field Notes
Description:
A beautiful moth with two-toned orange wings spanning to 30 mm. Lateral views show a gentle wave through the plane of the wings. A single pink line runs through the upper surface of both wings and it looks continuous when the moth is at rest. Dark irregular patches of colour are seen in the middle of both wings, on the underside.
When at rest the wings are held like a spread-out cloak about the body. Orange and pink setae seen on legs.
Antennae are orange.
Habitat:
Spotted under bright lights near national park. Caterpillars of these moths feed on eucalyptus leaves.
These moths are seen all through mainland Australia.
