Field Notes

Description:

A mound building megapode. During the breeding season the domi.ant male grows floppy yellow wattles and acquires an enhanced red head. The females maintain a small yellow collar and a less vibrant red head. The non-dominant males have varying degrees wattle growth and colour vibrancy.

Habitat:

Forests and now with habitat destruction they are populating the suburbs.
