Field Notes

Description:

The clymene moth is a moth of the tiger moth family. Found in the East of North America. The fore wing is creamy yellow with a partial brown-black border that extends inward from the inner margin near anal angle. The hind wing is yellow-orange with 1-2 brown-black spots. Wingspan is 40-55mm.

Habitat:

This tiny little clymene moth landed at my feet as I walked out the front door. Thought at first it was a small leave floating down but realized when it moved it was a moth. Had just enough time to get my camera and get this picture before it flew away.
