Field Notes

Description:

Unidentified flesh fly. From the widespread family Sarcophagidae. They typically have gray bodies and three black stripes on the thorax, and are of non-metallic appearance.

Habitat:

Spotted on vegetation in a large semi-urban yard & garden, near a disturbed patch of remnant lowland forest, in the equatorial tropics of northern New Guinea.

Notes:

The satellite imagery for this, my main location (my yard and gardens for 6+ years) was changed on or about 22 July 2014. Now it shows the wooded oasis that it was! :-)
