Found in Byron Bay, he was very relaxed around us & very beautiful so obviously a male in full colour regalia!

The Australian water dragon Intellagama lesueurii is the sole species in the genus. It however contains 2 subspecies, the eastern water dragon (I. l. lesueurii) and the Gippsland water dragon (I. l. howittii). Based on the descriptions I've read, I would say this is the eastern subspecies because it has dark bands behind its eyes while the Gippsland apparently doesn't.
