Field Notes

Description:

It was great to see this kite. It was the first time I've been able to get a picture of this species. A smallish raptor with elongated wings and tail. The plumage is gull-like with grey upper parts with black shoulders and wingtips. The head, tail, and underparts are white. It also has noticeable red eyes.

Habitat:

Spotted in a treetop at the Arcata Marsh Bird Sanctuary.
