Field Notes

Description:

This butterfly is one of my favourites and has been abscent over the last year and a half or in very few numbers because of the massive drought we have had here in Cape Town. Their presence no shows with the good rain we have had this season along with many other wildlife species as our wetlands and woodlands slowly recover. With its translucent fore wings and red / orange wings it is always a welcome site.

Habitat:

Woodland areas and gardens with supporting flowers.
