Description:

The Pharaoh cicada is a cicada that has a 17-year reaccurance and this is the year. In some areas, they are locally common. They are a large species easily recognized by their red eyes and reddish to golden wing veins against a black head and body.

Habitat:

Spotted in a mixed forest in the Ouachita National Forest of Arkansas.

Notes:

Native to Canada and the United States but mostly found in central and eastern portions of the United States.
