Description:

Small bush with serrated flat leaves and spiny branches. The berries are laden with spikes.

Habitat:

Dry soil near coniferous mountain forests in Western Montana.

Notes:

It is possible that the spikes on the berries are a result of disease as opposed to natural formation.
