Field Notes

Description:

Large cranefly, body length approx 30mm. Very long legs. In flight looks like a miniature tumble weed. Feathered antennae an interesting feature but has not helped in my search for an identification.

Habitat:

Littoral edge of a swamp in dry sclerophyll forest

It certainly does have impressive antennae. I would guess it is a male. It reminds me of a Limoniid Crane Fly but I just don't know. I see what you mean about trouble finding resources. I couldn't find any matches online either but I will try to keep an eye out for you! Good luck!
