Field Notes

Description:

Head to tail 32mm; triangular shaped at rest; paired leg spines; furry thorax; large, pectinate antennae (male?) tucked under forewings; some darker purplish markings under wings; wingspan 60mm

Habitat:

Resting on vehicle tail light near eucalyptus forests.

Thanks for that information DrNamgyalT.Sherpa. I will experiment with what is possible although there are not many options with a cheap little pocket camera. I really should wear glasses to see what is focussed too but often there is only time for the cam. Thanks again.
Mark smart spot. A word about focus. Your pictures have centre focus. If possible shift the focus point on the camera where you need it, like in this case on the eyes/ head, or half press shutter button and keep it holding while pointing the centre of the camera on the eyes, move the camera slightly down to include the whole body and press rest of the shutter button down. Mind you, your subject is posing for you dead still!

Ha SS... I should paint a face on it. Not many Yponomeutidae in Australia Matt and they area all much smaller and 'tubular' than this as far as I know. Thanks anyway.
