Description:
A dainty fern, with an interesting growth habitus, whose tips are more narrow than the base.
Habitat:
The spleenwort colonized entire walls of wet shale just across from a waterfall in Watkins Glen State Park.
Notes:
I was amazed to learn that there are more than a dozen subspecies of Asplenium trichomanes that may be distinguished by the rocky substrate they grow from and the cytotype.
