Field Notes

Description:

Arachnida; Araneae; Araneidae; Poltys sp. This spider looks, in many respects, like Poltys illepidus, but it could not be considered to be the same. However, the points of similarity (especially the tiny head which peeps out from between the legs) are sufficient to persuade me that this spider belongs to the Genus: Poltys.

Habitat:

This Tree Stump Spider was spotted in our front yard climbing on a Pawpaw Plant (Carica papaya) locally known as Papaya. Plant identification - http://www.stuartxchange.org/Papaya.html
