Field Notes

Description:

This kookaburra seems to be jumping for joy! If you look at the rest of the series you'll see why... ; ) Laughing Kookaburras, which are members of the kingfisher family, are stocky, carnivorous birds and have an unusual "laughing" call.

Habitat:

Seen in the grounds of the Chenrezig Institute (Buddhist Retreat) in the clearing across from the Garden of Enlightenment. There was another kookaburra (mate?) in a nearby tree.

Notes:

A very fat and happy kookaburra! I am a big fan of these birds and always enjoy watching them.
