Banded net-wing beetle
Calopteron reticulatum
39.3534, -82.0353
Field Notes
Habitat:
Forest.
Notes:
This is a mating pair, with the male on top. There are slight differences between the two: in the male, a thin black band of color extends from the head to the scutellum, but does not extend to the thorax. In the female, the band is wider and extends to the thorax. There is a related species, C. discrepans. They look very similar, and this pair could well be two C. discrepans specimens. I will have to find an identification guide to be 100% sure on the ID.
