Description:
Chicory is a pretty little wildflower with a stiff stem bearing blue flower heads with square-tipped fringed ends. Found throughout North America. Only a few heads open up at a time and lasts only a day. The roots can be roasted and ground as a coffee substitute.
Habitat:
There were several of these plants in an open field at a county park in Millersville, Maryland.
