Field Notes

Description:

Pentatomidae family. It is a bed bug with a maximum size of 16 mm. It has a grayish-brown color, with various dark spots, it is not very conspicuous in general. As the elytra are narrower than the abdomen, it protrudes from the sides, showing alternate dark and light markings. The antennae also have an alternating black and white coloration.

Like a good part of the Hemiptera, when it feels in danger it secretes an odor, the young have fetid glands on their back, in the case of adults, these are found in the lower part of the thorax.

They are not good fliers, their flight is slow and noisy and is accompanied by loud buzzes. This species shows diurnal and thermophilic activity. As with most Pentatomidae, it produces only one generation per year.
