Field Notes

Description:

Male is a greyish Warbler with a black head, white throat and red eye. The female is a lighter grey with a grey head. They are very shy and difficult to see in summer but visit our garden in winter to feed amongst the flowers and shrubs. Often feeds on the ground with Blackcaps.

Habitat:

Normally hide in dense bushes on stony hillsides but visit gardens in winter.

Notes:

The female was photographed in the same place on 25 January 2011.
