Description:

This is a large diving duck, spectacularly coloured males are in most of pics, while the female is in pics 3 and 6. Here, observed in a group of dozen birds, five of them very close to shores.

Habitat:

Observed on an artificial lake (and town water reserve) at outskirts of a smaller urban center in rural parts of Geneva lake valley. The lake borders the town, protected wetlands and a broadleaved forest. This lake and a neighbouring wetlands are one of the main places to observe waterfowls.
