Field Notes

Description:

Single flower growing about 1 ft high. Bright red edges with pinkish white petals and a green/yellow center.

Habitat:

Rocky hill country among native prairie grass.

Notes:

Could it be a young Black-sampson echinacea? (Echinacea angustifolia)
Or perhaps a PALE PURPLE CONEFLOWER (Echinacea pallida)

Species ID Suggestions

It's an echinacea of some sort, hard to say what species though.
Believe it is from the Gaillardia family, which one I'm not sure
