Flowering Spurge
Euphorbia corollata
34.5796, -84.6929
Field Notes
Description:
Native, perennial flowering plant from the Euphorbiaceae family. Around 2 feet tall, blue/green leaves in a whorled arrangement at the base of smooth stems. Stems exude sticky/milky sap. Tiny white flower clusters. Note: From what I have read, each "flower" is actually composed of appendages that LOOK like petals which surround a central cyathium. This cyathium is what actually contains the flowers!
I wish I could have gotten better shots! I need to buy a lighting setup for dreary days like this one!
Habitat:
Dirt roadside surrounded by thick mixed hardwood forest.
