Description:
Commonly known as the red spotted newt.
Habitat:
I found this little guy by a creek in the mountains. They usually hide under stones or wet, dead leaves.
Notes:
Fairly easy to catch. Skin is not moist to the touch. This is the type of salamander/newt that I found most often. Unfortunately, some of the newts I found looked like they were missing a limb of some sort, usually a foot. It seemed that they had been born that way. Possibly because of the environment...
