Field Notes

Description:

about northern mockingbird size or a little smaller. similar gray color overall. no white or deep black markings on wings when flying. Note very curved tip of beak in picture one.

Habitat:

spotted in coastal hammock edge near beach dunes.

Notes:

Seen at Bear Cur Preserve in Crandon Park beach, Key Biscayne Florida. I thought these may be Gray Kingbirds. However the curve of that beak in the first picture has me wondering if they may be Loggerhead Kingbirds ("a rare vagrant to South Florida from the Bahamas and Greater Antilles") as per this website:

here's the Gray for comparison which is a coastal Florida bird:

Comments (1)

Are you sure the first one isn't a Loggerhead Shrike? I am not sure about the other two, but they look to me like different birds.
