Field Notes

Description:

This treeclimbing mammal was about 50cm from tip of his nose to tip of its"tail" It was brown with thick fur. At his hands his fur had some white spots. It has large eyes and small pink ears. It clings to the tree with its front legs and hops up the tree trunk when it climbs.
When gliding (it does not fly) the whole animal becomes disk shaped!

Habitat:

In the Bukit Timah Nature Reserve, the last Primary Rainforest in Singapore, Singapore.

Notes:

I was hoping to see one of these and when I noticed some little monkeys climbing up a tree I noticed the Colugo and just when I saw it it leaped and glided to another tree, just in front of my eyes. SOOOOO lucky! It was amazing. Like a big Frisbee!
