Field Notes

Description:

The sexes are similar in pattern, but females have longer tails. The forewing is pointed and the outer margin is slightly serrated. The outer margin of the hindwing is clearly serrated, with a distinct tornal tail. It is dark brown in colour with green patches dispersed throughout. The patches are brighter towards the forewing base, and turn yellowish towards the outer margin of the hindwing. Its underside is pale brown and clouded with pale purplish tinged scales. The green patches are not prominent.

In my backyard.

Notes:

After months of pinning, finally managed to get an open-winged shot of this one. They are not very clear though; caught these shots when it was in mid-flight.

Ikr! This one never settles down for a clear open-winged shot. When I finally managed to get these yesterday, I was delighted. I've taken close-winged shots before but never open-winged.

Use the Tv Mode (Sutter priority Mode). Only change the shutter speed . I use the manual mode (M) tuned up to my preferences.

Thank you! I always put the mode to sports because I'm afraid that I'll mess up when changing settings lol

increase the shutter speed (turn it to 1/500 or more) to get still pics of butterflies in flight
