Field Notes

Description:

This is a male downy woodpecker because he has a red mark on back of head. Female has none. Small woodpecker (6") wit an all-white belly, black and white spotted wings and black line running through the eyes.

Habitat:

This male downy woodpecker was spotted in an overgrown field at a county park in Millersville, Maryland.
