Field Notes

Description:

Has thin black stalks with thicker red sporangia about halfway up the stalks. The tops of the sporangia are black.

Habitat:

Forest - decaying wood.

Notes:

An interesting slime mold, it threw me for a loop when I first saw it. Not sure on the species, but I'm pretty sure on the genus.

Awesome spotting lori.tas! It reminds me of that dog vomit slime mold (just remembering random pictures I've seen, definitely not a secure ID), I wish I could find one. I'm all for more slime molds on Noah, I need to practice my identification with them! Dawn, do you have any sources for recommending that species?
