Description:

This youngster is still getting his black head colouring. Gouldian Finches "are small birds, with a bright green back, yellow belly and a purple breast. The facial colour is usually black, and is found in about 75% of the birds. [...] The upper bill is blackish and the lower bill is pinkish white. The end of the beak is tipped with red." (https://www.birdlife.org.au/bird-profile/gouldian-finch )

Habitat:

Perched at his vantage point about 2-3m (6.6-9.8ft) above the bird bath. Plenty of company from Double-barred Finches (Taeniopygia bichenovii), Long-tailed Finches (Poephila acuticauda acuticauda), Peaceful Doves (Geopelia striata placida), a couple of Great Bowerbirds (Chlamydera nuchalis), and a bunch of other bird species in the garden at Goombaragin on the Dampier Peninsula.

Notes:

The status of these stunning little birds is Listed as Endangered (under EPBC Act 1999) and as Near Threatened (Under IUCN Red List). This site has some interesting reading - (https://www.wwf.org.au/what-we-do/species/gouldian-finch#gs.m3efxp )
