Thanks for the correction, ForestDragon. I thought Chrysodeixis argentifera originated in the US, was a accidentally introduced to Australia. We have lots of introduced species here, unfortunately.
Chrysodeixis argentifera is a pretty moth but it doesn't occur in North America. It is an Australian species. Judging from those cute antennae and the fluffy thorax, I would guess this to be one of the Tubeworm Moths from Genus Acrolophus : http://bugguide.net/node/view/18147/bgpage There are quite a few of them in that genus.
It's hard to tell exactly from the photo, but considering location I think your best guess is Chrysodeixis argentifera, the Tobacco looper moth.
