Field Notes

Description:

The Apple-green Swallowtail or Green Banded Swallowtail (Papilio phorcas) is a butterfly of the Papilionidae family. It is found in Africa.

These butterflies were everywhere in the Ugandan Rainforest. A iridescent blue/green streak whizzing past. They rarely stopped except in the early morning, or to light on a flower for a second to sip nectar. Not long enough even to focus!

Habitat:

All through the rainforest and along the edges verging on paths and roads.
