These are colonies of individual organisms called zooids. In freshwater, bryozoans are among the most important filter feeders, along with sponges and mussels. Freshwater bryozoans are attacked by many predators, including snails, insects, and fish. They are generally considered a sign of good water quality,

Glad you thought so, Luis. I had seen these organisms in the lake for some time and then took out an hour to search the Internet until I could figure out what they were. I thought they were single individuals (like a jellyfish) and not colonies of little ones.
