Description:

These plants are classified in theOrobanchaceae family (following major rearrangements of the order Lamiales starting around 2001; sources which do not follow these reclassifications may place them in the Scrophulariaceae).
They are hemiparasitic on the roots of grasses and forbs.
They are an important food source for several butterfly species

Habitat:

Mountain slopes, Cerro de la Muerte.
C.irazuensis is described as endemic of Costa Rica in the area of Irazu volcano. This spotting in Cerro de la Muerte is either the same species or a related one.
