Description:

The Soldier Pansy or Soldier Commodore (Junonia terea)[2] is a butterfly of the Nymphalidae family. It is found in the Afrotropic ecozone.

Junonia terea is a very common and widespread species, found from Senegal to southern Sudan, Ethiopia and Somalia; and south to Congo, Tanzania and Transvaal.

The wingspan is 50–55 mm in males and 52–60 mm in females.

Habitat:

This species is found in glades, clearings and forest edge habitats, at altitudes between sea level and about 1200m.
