Field Notes

Description:

Common fungus. Egg shaped at the beginning. Eventually will open up with scales on cap that will give it the shaggy look. The fine gills prevents the spores from being released like other mushrooms. This causes a self digestion and the mushroom will get that black inky look and start to look spoiled. This process will be the way it releases the spores. <br>Edible if harvested early and stored properly due to the self-digestion.

Habitat:

Lawns mostly and can be found in rich soils

Notes:

I spotted the spoiled ones but didn't have time to take the pictures.
