Field Notes

Description:

A stout mushroom with a cream-coloured convex cap and flaky patches of universal veil. Some of the cap seems to have been nibbled away. The stem had a very bulbous base. A partial veil was still intact, except for a small tear which exposed close white gills (pic 3).

Habitat:

Spotted at the base of a eucalyptus tree in a nature reserve.

Notes:

Order: Agaricales
Family: Amanitaceae
